Yesterday, the two sisterships, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Jewel was both in NYC. Jewel left 10 minutes after Gem, so it was a spectacular sail - away!

Christmas Cruise!

Whoop whoop!!

It's decided! We're going on our next cruise, to the Caribbean! Leaving NYC the 22nd December 2012 on the Gem, to San Juan, St. Maarteen, St. Thomas and Samana. We will arrive back in NYC on New Year's Eve! We have some family over there that we will be visiting, before flying back to Norway on the 4th January.

This will be an fantastic adventure! 308 days left ! =)

Brage Viking Bollard Pull

Today, the newly built "anchor handling tug vessel", Brage Viking, arrived in Flekkefjord.
She came directly from the yard in Bilbao, Spain to do some winch testing and this Bollard Bull.

Of course, I went out to grab some photos =)

Rescued from Concordia

Hi!
Late saturday nigth, a South Corean couple on their honeymoon, was rescued out of the capsized cruiseship Costa Concordia. And earlier today, a cabin steeward was rescued out of a restaurant.

Still, 3 is confirmed dead, and about 40 people are still missing!
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the guests, officers, crew and families of Costa Cruise Line at this very difficult time.

Actually, there is a possibility that Concordia will sink another 230 feet more! Let's hope that doesn't happen!

Good morning!

First, none of the photos are mine! =)

One of the largest ships in the huge fleet of Costa Crociere, the 114,147 gross ton COSTA CONCORDIA ran aground the evening of Friday, January 13th, off the Tuscan West Coast of Italy near the island of Giglio. Initial reports confirm at least two passengers have been killed. Among the complement of 4,200 people on-board are 3,200 passengers and 1,000 crew members. Some people jumped overboard and swam to shore as the cruise ship took on a 20 degree list to starboard and appeared to be in danger of sinking. Others were evacuated by boats. The ship is healed over and appears to be resting against a small breakwater, with several of the lifeboats nearby in the water.

Here`s Costa Concordia:

The COSTA CONCORDIA was newly built in 2006. When constructed it was the largest Italian ship in history. The ship measures 952 feet in length and has a beam of 116 feet. The cruise had begun two hours earlier sailing from the Italian port of Civitavecchia, the port for Rome, on a 7-day cruise scheduled to visit Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Caligari,and Palermo. Guests can board at various ports depending on their nationality. The majority of passengers originated in Italy although there were also large numbers of German and French passengers aboard. Around the dinner hour, about 8:00pm, there was a loud boom reported and shortly thereafter passengers were advised to don their life-jackets and report to their muster stations. As this news is still unfolding at the time of writing, it is unclear what may have caused this serious accident to occur.

A fast trip to Denmark!

Hey ho!
Last Saturday we went to Denmark for a day, to do some christmas shopping and all that! We took the ferry Superspeed 1 from Kristiansand to Hirtshals in the morning, and back late in the evening.

When we arrived Hirtshals, the Icelandic ferry "Norröna" arrived from Iceland... and the Norwegian ferry "Bergensfjord" left right before we docked!

Of course, I grabbed some photos for you =) Enjoy!

Hi!
The Norwegian schoolship Gann, based in Stavanger, couldn`t make up with the 10-12 meter high waves outside the souther coast of Norway, so she had to call at Flekkefjord this weekend. Departure probably tomorrow (sunday), or monday.

I of course, I took some pictures :)

This was all for today! Nex week I will realease some very exciting news, about th cruiseseason of 2013, and I have also some very cool pictures from Google Earth, that I will publish here next week!

Good afternoon!

Today, Queen Mary 2 left Southampton for the last time, registered in Great Britian! Now she`s on her way to Hamburg, for a great refit! Big changes will take places.

Early in October, Cunard annouced that they would move over to Bermuda... and now the registery will be Hamilton! This was the last company that had their ships registered in Great Britian!

It`s a shame!

Here is Queen Mary 2 in Stavanger summer of 2011, still registered in Great Britian, with Southampton on her stern, and the Birtish flag in the mast! Now, the last true Ocean Liner will lose some of her "quality".

Now.... we`ve entered the quiet and relaxed season. The cruiseships has left Norway, and the cold is approaching... ick! I can`t wait for the summer of 2012!

New harbor in Flekkefjord!

Hello!

In january 2012, the first cargoship will arrive on Abelsnes, the new harbor in Flekkefjord! The harbor is located 20 minutes south from Flekkefjord.

It`s the company "Andersens Packaging Company", that will use the harbor most.

So, I`ll be there with my camera! :D

Also, we`re looking at a cruise, either Caribbean, or Eastern Mediterrean! :D

The 144,017-ton, 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway will launch in April 2013 as the first of NCL's two "Project Breakaway" cruise ships. Sister ship Norwegian Getaway will debut in April 2014.

According to the line, the Project Breakaway pair will represent a blend of the best of the Jewel-class ships and Norwegian Epic. Two things that won't be back from the 155,873-ton, 4,100-passenger Epic, which launched in June 2010, are the controversial see-through bathrooms in cabins and the "hat," the top-ship protrusion housing the Haven suties that gives Epic is unforgettable look.

Three wonderful webcams!

Well, in these past few weeks, I have found some quite interesting webcams! They`re located on the US Eastcoast, in New York, Port Canaveral and Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale.

They`re following the arrivals and departures of huge cruiseships every day, and now the season is on in Port Canaveral and Port Everglades!

I have taken some screenshots, and will be continuing with that :-)

The baptism of three oil tankers in Stavanger

On Wednesday, 5th October, three huge oil tanker was baptized i Stavanger.The three tankers filled up " Vågen", where the cruise ships usual dock :-)

Peary Spirit, Nansen Spirit and Scott Spirit is their names.

My parents were in Stavanger that day, so my father took some photos for me :-)

Simek has signed new contract!!

Good morning! :)

Yesterday, Simek AS signed a new contract with Gulf Offshore Norway, and this vessel will be delivered in june 2013, so now, the 200 workers at Simek has work from December 2011 to june 2013. There`s room for another vessel in fall 2012.

Autumn vacation at our cabin

This week is our Autumn vacation, so we decided to spend some days at our cabin, just outside Flekkefjord, in the fjord.

29th August, before we flied down to Barcelona to start our cruise with Norwegian Epic, we went out in our boat, and had an nice excursion in the archipelago of Flekkefjord. We sailed through a canal on the island Hidra.
Some pictures from this sunny lovely day in the outskirts of Flekkefjord! :

This was a week after the terroristattack in Oslo and on Utøye, so we`re flagging on half.
